Ivan Mac, MD, MBA

Education
Dr. Mac earned his undergraduate degree from Boston University, where he completed a double major in Biology and Economics. He went on to attend Wake Forest University for medical school, where he was chosen as one of only two students admitted to the distinguished dual MD/MBA program. Following medical school, Dr. Mac completed an internship in Internal Medicine and then a three-year residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville.
Professional Experience
Dr. Mac brings decades of knowledge, leadership, and surgical experience to the field of ophthalmology. He is widely respected in ophthalmology and has written many papers on a range of eye care topics. He has also spoken at local, national, and international events. Dr. Mac is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been recognized by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of the nation’s leading cataract and refractive surgeons.
Special Interests
Dr. Mac focuses on LASIK, PRK, and other refractive procedures, including laser-assisted cataract surgery and the EVO implantable collamer lens (ICL). He is committed to moving ophthalmology forward by working with industry partners to help develop and bring new innovations to market that improve patient care. In addition to his experience in refractive surgery, Dr. Mac also practices comprehensive ophthalmology, with specialized care in diabetic eye management and glaucoma treatment.
Personal Backgroud
Originally from Southern California, Dr. Mac has more recently made Waxhaw, North Carolina his home. He is married and has three children, including twin daughters and a son.


Charles Blotnick, MD

Education
Dr. Blotnick completed his internship at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and his ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He also completed a one-year research fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he studied intraocular lenses. Dr. Blotnick is board-certified, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a diplomate of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
He has received the Vitals Patients’ Choice Award multiple times, recognizing physicians who deliver exceptional care. In 2015, he was also honored with the On-Time Doctor Award. These awards are based on yearly patient reviews and ratings gathered from millions of patients and are given to fewer than five percent of doctors nationwide. Dr. Blotnick has been practicing for more than 20 years and specializes in the latest techniques in cataract surgery, LASIK, and glaucoma care.
Professional Experience
Dr. Blotnick is widely regarded as one of the leading cataract and intraocular lens implant surgeons in the state. He has been at the forefront of ophthalmic innovation, including being one of the first surgeons to perform Tecnis Symfony intraocular lens procedures, which introduced the first extended depth of focus lens for cataract patients. He also performed one of the region’s first laser-assisted cataract surgeries when that technology became available.
He continues to use the latest advances in eye surgery, including the PanOptix Multifocal lens and Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) procedures for cataract and Refractive Lens Exchange patients. In addition, Dr. Blotnick has performed LASIK since the early years of the procedure and more recently began offering Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) surgery for patients who are not candidates for LASIK.
Dr. Blotnick was also the first surgeon in North Carolina to implant the Glaukos Trabecular Micro-Bypass iStent, a device designed to improve the eye’s natural fluid outflow and reduce intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. His dedication to advanced technology and high-quality patient care has made him one of the most experienced eye surgeons in the Carolinas. He has also co-authored five research publications, contributing to continued progress in the field of ophthalmology.

Dr. Blotnick focuses on advanced cataract procedures, including intraocular lens implants, laser-assisted cataract surgery, and multifocal lens options. He also performs LASIK and ICL procedures for patients with refractive vision needs. His experience also includes glaucoma care, with a special emphasis on newer treatments such as the Glaukos iStent. Dr. Blotnick is committed to keeping up with the latest technology and surgical techniques so he can provide the highest level of care to his patients.
Personal Backgroud
Outside of work, Dr. Blotnick enjoys spending time outdoors and taking part in activities such as snow skiing, hiking, biking, and water skiing. He is also a dedicated sports fan who enjoys watching games with his wife and two sons.

Luke Peterson, MD

Education
Dr. Peterson graduated with highest honors from Montana State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience. He then received his medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, graduating cum laude. He went on to complete both his ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at Emory University.
Professional Experience
Dr. Peterson is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has made significant contributions to the field through multiple book chapters and several co-authored peer-reviewed publications.
Special Interests
Dr. Peterson focuses on both the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, providing a full range of care that includes advanced glaucoma lasers and modern surgical techniques. He has extensive experience with minimally invasive glaucoma procedures such as iStent, goniotomy, and canaloplasty. In addition, Dr. Peterson performs small-incision and laser cataract surgery, using Toric and Multifocal intraocular lenses to help reduce or even remove the need for glasses after cataract surgery.
Personal Backgroud
Originally from North Dakota, Dr. Peterson spent much of his childhood in Montana, where he and his wife developed a passion for the outdoors, enjoying activities such as golfing, hiking, and skiing.
